My father loves me. My mother detests me. My garden blooms for me. My dolls don’t look at me. 

Thérèse is a young girl wrapped in warmth, showered with the affection of her father for as long as she can remember. He gave her everything—dolls, toys, pets, and all the attention she could ever crave. He was the perfect father, a man who showed her the world. His most cherished gift to her was a garden of her own. 

A place where colors bloom in every shade, a rainbow hue scattered across the foliage; a fantasy come to life, a small paradise she could call her own. 

But perhaps it was merely a delusion. Perhaps it was just a fluke. There was no chance that she… 

 …Would find a dead girl buried beneath her soil.
